Downtown Disney to Become Disney Springs

Updated: 18 March 2013 07:05:19 AM

Walt Disney World Resort announced last week the rumored plans to revamp Downtown Disney to Disney Springs.

The major transformation for Central Florida will bring over 4,000 new jobs, 1,200 construction jobs, new revenue, and business opportunities to Central Florida.

Tom Staggs, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, stated “Disney Springs will be a timeless, vibrant place where Walt Disney World guests and local residents can relax, shop, dine and be entertained in an imaginative setting where they’ll instantly feel at home.”

Four Neighborhoods

Disney Springs will be composed of four neighborhoods; Town Center, the Landing, Marketplace and West Side.

Central to this neighborhood is a bubbling water fountain which will be the heart of the development near Town Center, a Spanish revival designed community which will be the main retail hub and immediately near the Landing where world class, water front dining will be available.

The third neighborhood, the Marketplace, provides family friendly retail and dining establishments located on the water and allows easy flow of guests to the rest of the development over a raised path.

The fourth neighborhood, West Side, will be consists of industrial buildings and an elevated train trestle where guests can casually lounge during the day in shaded comfort.

This new revamping of Downtown Disney is what Disney does best.

Even though this isn’t a theme park, it will provide guests a sense of place and welcome that sparks the imagination in only the way Disney manages to provide.

This will be the perfect place to visit!
