Disney With Small Kids

Updated: 09 Feb 2013 06:05:15 AM

Walt Disney World is known for the magic and mystery that it offers to kids of all ages.

But for a parent who has children under the age of 5, you may feel hesitant to take your toddler into a world where there is so much to see and do that it can actually prove to be a bit too for your little one.

While there is certainly the potential for a tiresome situation and plenty of opportunity for toddler meltdowns, with a bit of careful planning and scheduling of your day you can ensure that the whole family has an absolutely wonderful experience while visiting Disney World.

Don’t feel compelled to take in every attraction that the park has to offer.

Have A Schedule

Disney World offers an amazing number of themed lands, which can all be incredibly overwhelming and exhausting for the whole family.

Schedule character breakfasts, lunches, or dinners at some of the area restaurants and hotels so that your little ones can meet their costumed heroes.

Perhaps your little princess would prefer to meet all of the princesses?

Or perhaps meeting Winnie the Pooh is more their speed?

There are endless meet-the-character opportunities, so be sure to find the one that works best for your little one’s interests.

With an itinerary in hand, you can hit the attractions that you most want to see with your kids and you can schedule your time in the park around meal and nap times.

Splitting Up

If you don’t manage to see everything you’d planned on experiencing, in one day, simply make a plan to see it the following day when you return.

Another option is to consider splitting up, which can be very useful if you have older kids to consider.

One parent can enjoy the Peter Pan attraction with the little kids while another heads out to one of the attractions better suited for the older kids.

Also look into Disney's Ride Share program.

Ride Share will allow each of the parents to take turns riding on the attraction with the child who is old enough to enjoy it.

Plan, be prepared, and remember to have fun!
