Nothing tugs at the heartstrings like a sick child.
For those with life threatening or terminal illnesses, every day is a gift and one to be enjoyed to the fullest.
That is the mission and passion behind Give Kids the World Village, a non-profit organization set on seventy acres in Central Florida.
This “storybook” vacation place gives critically ill children and their families a week-long vacation in a safe, happy, and cost-free place.
To date, more than 120,000 sick children from all around the globe have been allowed to let their fantasies run free here.
No child or family is ever turned away or ever will be.
Constructed in vibrant colors and playful themes, children are treated to train rides, pony rides, putt-putt golf, petting zoos, merry-go-rounds and an enormous swimming pool.
It is a week of non-stop fun with as many rides as a child wants.
For those wishing to help, consider these opportunities: run in the Walt Disney Marathon on the Give Kids the World (GKTW) team, attend the Black and White Gala Ball (this is the signature fund raising event and this year marks the 25th Anniversary of GKTW), ride in the 5th annual Roller Coaster event at eleven different venues around the country, or take part in the December Holiday Art sessions.
Local fund raising includes a Jet Ski Bash sponsored by the Tampa Bay Jet Ski Club and the AAA Moving and Storage Golf Tournament.
At any event, sick children will be directly and positively impacted by you.
Give Kids the World is extremely important and has provided sick children and their families a chance to take a break and have fun together.
As these families know, life is short, so make this outstanding village one of your personal projects.
Everyone will win.
