Magic Kingdom Secrets & Surprises

Updated: 17 May 2013 02:33:17 AM

Part of the magic of Walt Disney World is the obvious amount of fun that the Imagineers who dreamed up the parks had when creating each spot.

They built surprises and secrets into the rides, décor, and sometimes even the cement.

The Magic Kingdom is full of these delights, and here are a few to look out for when visiting the park.

Delights & Treasures

  • Legend has it that a young bride met an untimely death at the Haunted Mansion, and her wedding ring is embedded in the cement outside of Liberty Square.
  • Pick up the old fashioned telephone on the wall in the Market House on Main Street, and listen carefully.
  • There is an entire underground transportation network to help move characters from place to place, accommodate trash removal, and keep operations running smoothly for guests without interference from personnel.
  • In Liberty Square, look at the 2nd story windows. Remember Paul Revere and “one if by land, two if by sea?” How many lanterns can you see?
  • Push The Talking Trashcan. He wanders around Tomorrowland and you may get a surprise if you throw something away here!
  • While whipping through Space Mountain, see if you can find the chocolate chip asteroid!
  • If you find yourself in the park after closing, pay special attention to the castle. You may be sent home with a “kiss goodnight.”
  • Look for the Evil Queen above Snow White’s Scary Adventures.
  • The names along the shops on Main Street are names of the Imagineers who helped create the park.

Be sure to look carefully – you and your family will surely add to this list on your own visit to the Magic Kingdom!
